Description

API Youth Leadership Council (APIYLC) is a program within the Community Youth Center (CYC) of San Francisco. CYC provides education, leadership development, behavioral health, and intervention among other services to SF youth and their families. CYC works to empower young people to reach their highest potential as individuals and to develop a positive self/cultural identity.

APIYLC specifically aims to foster leadership qualities within Asian Pacific Islander (API) youth and empower them so that they can bring about change in the Asian Pacific American (APA) community. The program does so by challenging youth to engage in discourse that address social justice issues impacting the APA community. The program will also provide youth with experience and opportunities in volunteering, civic engagement, and community service. Our program goal is to help young people understand social justice theories and how to manifest them into praxis.
